Warning Against Worldliness!

ree

James chapter 4 reflects an honest representation of life in this fallen world.

  • We will experience conflict and disappointment in our relationships (v.1)

  • We will experience sinful, selfish desires, as we try to proceed with a righteous life (v.1)

  • We will experience outside assault and temptation from the enemy (v. 7)

  • We will experience sadness, suffering, and loss (v. 9)

  • We will experience uncertainty and surprises (v. 14)

This is the harsh genuine world we live in. But God doesn’t leave us there: James 4, verses 6-7 says, “But he gives more grace…. “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. “ Grace is God’s unmerited, loving favor extended to humanity through Jesus Christ, encompassing forgiveness, mercy, and enablement to live a righteous life (Eph. 2:8-9, Rom. 3:24; 2 Cor. 12:9; Heb. 4:15-16; James 4:6).

As followers of Jesus, amid it all, we are guaranteed grace!

Please rejoice and pray with us:

On August 24, we started Iglesia Keystone, a Spanish-speaking service in Kettering, Ohio. We have enjoyed several weeks now of worshiping together with Spanish-speaking friends, old and new, and are thankful for a few families who have been attending regularly.  On Thursdays, too, we meet for a Bible study in the Gospel of John. Within that ministry, we need prayer for the following:

  • Someone to lead worship (we are doing fine as is, but having a person dedicated to the ministry would be helpful).

  • The English-as-a-Second-Language ministry, Growing in English, that Tia will start up in October (with help).

  • Attendees who have requested prayer for unsaved family members.

  • For Edgar, who needs healing of a serious health issue.

From October 31 through November 8, we will travel to Queretaro and Salamanca, Mexico, with the IBAC ministry.  Bart and Sandy Sheridan, from our home church, will also come.

  • Kevin and Bart will be training church leaders in Preparing Biblical Messages.

  • We ask for prayer in safety and travel, but also for strength and wisdom during teaching and relationship times.

  • Also, if you would like to help with the expenses for this trip to Mexico, we are still needing around $1500.

With faith in Him and thankful for all your prayers,

ree
